A Home Remedy For Insomnia

When we sink into deep sleep we don’t think we need a cure for insomnia. We visit a land where our hopes and fears are real, and where we can act out our most secret desires

We discover new worlds and move in high places as our body renews itself and charges its batteries for the coming day. Insomniacs do not go through this restful and relaxing cycle, so they may not be able to get much dreaming done, or they wake up too early.

They might not have any memory of them.

It is true that many people who have no problems with insomnia at all do not remember dreams although it is certain that they have had them. To remember or not to remember the dream is not really the issue, the important thing is the rejuvenating effect that sleep brings.

When we start to sleep we are in an easily disturbed sleep, the drowsy early sleep cycle. As the sleep cycles get deeper and deeper it becomes more and more difficult to wake us up.

Waking up in the middle of a deep sleep cycle instead of in a shallow light sleep cycle, causes feelings of tiredness during the day.

Rem sleep – “Rapid Eye Movement” sleep – is when your subconscious mind works hard and puts on the dreams.

The only way to make sure you have REM sleep is to make sure you do fall asleep: no-one but you can be in charge of your sleep destiny.

Tell your body who is boss and make sure that the boss is you. Do not panic if you cannot sleep. Manage the set for a good nights sleep and you will make it happen.

Start by clearing the set:

Remove anything that might relate to work, stress or bother you in any way. Were you to be really upset with your parents, for example, then take any pictures with them out of the bedroom that night! You will focus only on your insomnia.

Your bedroom should be dark and cool. Sleep experts, and Feng Shui practitioners in particular, detest the idea of having lots of electronics in the bedroom, especially TV sets.

If you want to find a natural cure for insomnia you will move the one eyed monster out of your bedroom!

The same applies to your laptop or computer.

Switch to “sleep mode” or shut it down – or take it out of the bedroom.

Next, run through the scene.

During the lead-up to going to bed, try to move slowly, turn the lights down, avoid noise and “jumping about”.

Imagine that you wake up feeling well rested and alert. When you finally go to bed, close your eyes and let your mind imagine peaceful and relaxing settings.

When your mind drifts away, try to refocus and concentrate.

You are the director; just make sure your dreams are marvellous and fantastic, once you get the relaxing sleep you have been striving for.
